A coat of black spray paint apparently wasn’t enough to keep a stolen Honda out of sight in Aurora.
According to an account of Aurora Police Department’s report, officers recovered the sedan after a school camera spotted it and an attempted traffic stop ended in a crash.
A Different Color, Same Car
Police received the carjacking report before 4 a.m. Tuesday, September 29. The victim’s son said a suspect threatened the victim with a handgun and took the Honda.

The following morning, a Flock camera in a high school parking lot detected the car. Police said a subsequent alert revealed someone had spray-painted it black, apparently to disguise it.
Four Juveniles Taken Into Custody
Shortly before noon Wednesday, school resource officers found the Honda near East Mississippi Avenue and South Chambers Road.
Police said the driver fled before officers activated their emergency lights, ran a stop sign and struck another vehicle. Nobody was injured.
Four male juveniles were taken into custody. Police said they attended the school where the camera detected the Honda. The report did not name the school or disclose individual charges.
