On June 18th, Colorado State Patrol pulled over David Maldonado for weaving on I-70 near the Eisenhower Tunnels, and discovered 114 Pounds of Fentanyl.  This is the most Powdered Fentanyl ever discovered on a US roadway.  Maldonado was taken into custody, and the Fentanyl was seized.

On June 19th, the Drug Enforcement Agency was brought in, and they made a deal with Maldonado. He was allowed to continue on his route to South Bend Indiana, and they were going to follow him every step of the way in an attempt to bust the kingpins of this drug empire.  A tracker was placed on his car, Maldonado drove off, and that was the last we saw of him.  He eluded the surveillance vehicles, and removed the tracker from his car and now no one knows where he is. He is out on a $250,000 bond for two class 1 drug felonies involving unlawful distribution, sale and possession of a narcotic.  The DEA is not releasing too much info about the case.  There is no mugshot, description of the car, or a reward at this time.

That seems like bad news, but the good news is the Fentanyl is off the streets.  For comparison of how much Fentanyl was recovered:  There was enough powder to make 25 Million Pills.  In all of 2021, only 20 million pills of Fentanyl were confiscated across America by the DEA.  The confiscated haul will be incinerated after being tested.
