Twitter Reacts to Walmart’s “Metaverse” Shopping Video from 2017

Twitter is reacting to Walmart’s video detailing its foray into the metaverse. The only problem is that the video is from 2017 SXSW Festival.

At the time that the video was created, the term metaverse didn’t even exist, which is probably why no one paid attention to it. But, in 2022 with “metaverse” ranking in as one of the most used words, right behind NFT. But based on twitters reaction to the video in 2022, shoppers are not looking at this as something they want to be the norm.

This metaverse Walmart is interesting to watch, especially with so much buzz surrounding Metaverse. There has been no update on if Walmart has stuck with this 2017 concept or how its virtual stores might look today. But there’s no denying how brutally honesty the twitter-verse can be:
