Colorado Family Stunned as Black Bear Raids Fridge, Then Casually Opens Garage Door to Leave

Talk about unexpected guests — a Colorado family got the surprise of their lives when a black bear broke into their home, raided the refrigerator, and then politely let itself out through the garage.

The now-viral video, viewed over 7 million times on TikTok, shows the bear calmly wandering through the kitchen and living room like it owned the place. The family, audibly stunned, filmed from a safe distance as the bear stood on its hind legs to inspect the fridge, seemingly searching for the perfect midnight snack.

One person can be heard nervously laughing and saying, “I’m calling the cops.” While animal control might have been the better option, the bear seemed to have the situation under control. After grabbing a bite, the clever creature surveyed the room, climbed near a window to check its exit options, and then made the most human move imaginable — it walked to the garage door, stood up, turned the handle, and opened it.

Before leaving, the bear even appeared to glance back at the stunned family — a move that many online commenters joked looked like a polite goodbye.

Wildlife officials have long warned that Colorado’s growing bear population is becoming increasingly bold, often entering homes in search of food. They urge residents to keep doors and windows securely locked and avoid leaving food out in the open.

For this family, it was a reminder that life in bear country comes with surprises — sometimes big, furry, and unexpectedly polite ones.
