What’s Inside Vail’s $25 “World Famous” Hot Chocolate

In Vail, there’s a hot chocolate that’s making waves on the internet—and it’s definitely not your average cup of cocoa. Known as the Haute Chocolate, this luxurious treat is served at The Remedy Bar at the Four Seasons Resort and Residences. While Four Seasons has locations worldwide, the Haute Chocolate is exclusively made at this Vail property.

This indulgent drink has gained such popularity over the years that the resort hired a “Haus Chocolatier” whose sole job is to prepare this renowned hot chocolate. The demand has been so high that guests from all over flock to Vail to experience it for themselves.

So, what makes this hot chocolate worth $25 (or $31 if you add whiskey or peppermint schnapps)?

The secret lies in the quality of the chocolate. The Haute Chocolate is made with Valrhona chocolate, a premium French brand known for its high-end, gourmet products. While Vail can be an expensive town, just purchasing the Valrhona chocolate mix online can cost upwards of $40, making the hot chocolate’s price seem more reasonable in comparison.

The process of making this indulgent drink is part of its charm. It starts with steamed milk paired with the Valrhona chocolate, and then it’s churned tableside using a traditional French hot chocolate pot. To top it off, the drink is garnished with a handmade marshmallow, a delicate chocolate lattice, and freshly shaved chocolate.

As the hot chocolate is poured over the marshmallow and lattice, it melts and combines into a rich, velvety drink, creating a mesmerizing experience for the drinker.

Whether or not you’d pay $25 for a cup of hot chocolate is up to you, but rest assured, you’re not alone—people travel from all over the world to try this luxurious treat in the heart of Vail.
