Thieves Break Into Westminster Mail Center, Steal Packages; Police Seek Help Identifying Suspects
Westminster police are asking for the public’s help after two thieves were caught on camera breaking into a neighborhood mail center and stealing multiple packages. According to KDVR, the break-in happened around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 2 near 93rd Avenue and City Center Drive, where a man and woman forced their way into community mailboxes before grabbing packages and walking off with them.
Surveillance video shows the female suspect looking directly into the camera, revealing reddish, dyed hair. The male suspect has a distinctive “5280” tattoo on the back of his right hand, which investigators hope will help identify him. Police did not specify how many packages were taken or what was inside them, but said the pair “are definitely on the naughty list” in a social media post.
As holiday package thefts rise, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service recommends picking up mail promptly, using hold services when out of town, requesting signatures for deliveries, and never mailing cash. Anyone who recognizes the suspects or has information is asked to contact Westminster police at police@westminsterco.gov or call the non-emergency line at 303-658-4360.
