Police have arrested a man accused of attempting to kidnap a young girl in Westminster last week. Authorities say 31-year-old Jeremiah Mullins was taken into custody just hours after the incident occurred on Oct. 25. According to the Westminster Police Department, the girl was walking alone to school around 7 a.m. near West 125th Avenue and Delaware Street when a silver vehicle pulled up beside her. The driver, later identified as Mullins, allegedly threatened her with a gun and demanded she get in the car. When she refused, the suspect grabbed her backpack and drove off. The girl managed to reach school safely and reported the incident.

Later that day, officers located Mullins in the 12000 block of North Melody Drive and arrested him without incident, recovering a black handgun in the process. Westminster Police withheld news of the arrest initially to maintain the integrity of their investigation. Following further inquiries, they linked Mullins to multiple crimes in the area.

On Friday, the case was presented to the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, resulting in several charges, including aggravated robbery, kidnapping, attempted kidnapping, aggravated motor vehicle theft, and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
