Where to Find Sunflower Fields Near Denver in 2024

As fall approaches, the excitement for corn mazes and pumpkin patches is building, but before that, Colorado’s sunflower fields are bursting into full bloom. From late July through September, sunflowers thrive, offering perfect photo opportunities and tranquil walks through fields of vibrant yellow.

Here’s a guide to some of the best sunflower fields near Denver that are welcoming visitors this season.

The Bee Hugger Farm, Longmont
Located at 12590 Ute Highway in Longmont, The Bee Hugger Farm offers a charming and laid-back experience with its sunflower fields. Open daily from 8 a.m. to dusk, the farm allows visitors to pick sunflowers and pay on a donation basis using Venmo or cash. No appointment is necessary to enjoy the flowers, feed the animals, climb tractors, or buy fresh honey. However, if you’re a professional photographer, you’ll need to schedule an appointment and pay a fee.

Sunflowers at Denver International Airport
It might come as a surprise, but there are acres of sunflowers surrounding Denver International Airport. Although the public cannot access these fields directly since the land is privately owned by the airport and leased to farmers, the airport does allow visitors to view and photograph the sunflowers from a distance. Just be sure to respect the private property and abide by trespassing laws.

Sunflower Farm, Longmont
Another great spot in Longmont is Sunflower Farm at 11150 Prospect Road, which boasts about 2 acres of sunflower fields. You can visit during Farmfest events, held on most weekends in August and September from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is $18, with free entry for babies under 12 months. Farmfest offers more than just sunflowers—visitors can enjoy animals, swings, tractors, and more. On Wednesday evenings in August and Friday evenings in September and October, the farm hosts Farmfest Music Evenings from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., complete with live music, food trucks, and local vendors. Entry for these events is $27, and reservations are required.

Anderson Farms, Erie
Anderson Farms in Erie dedicates 15 acres to sunflower fields, featuring over 50 varieties of sunflowers. The farm is open to visitors Thursday through Sunday until August 24, offering strolls through the fields, private campfire site rentals, and even sunflower pick-and-paint classes. Prices for these experiences vary, with options for couples, individuals, and kids. In addition to sunflowers, Anderson Farms offers unique experiences like unicorn rides for kids and yoga classes amidst the flowers.

No matter where you go, Colorado’s sunflower fields are a must-see, offering a beautiful way to soak in the late summer and early fall scenery.
