Son of Falcons Coach Apologizes for Prank Call to Shedeur Sanders During NFL Draft

Shedeur Sanders, who was eventually drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round, faced an unexpected prank during Day 2 of the NFL Draft. While waiting for his dream call, Sanders received a confusing phone call from someone pretending to be New Orleans Saints GM Mickey Loomis, telling him he’d have to “wait a little longer.” The prank left Sanders visibly confused at his draft party.

It was later revealed that the caller was Jax Ulbrich, the 21-year-old son of Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich. According to ESPN, Jax found an open iPad at his parents’ home, accessed sensitive information, and placed the prank call without his father’s knowledge. The Falcons issued a statement condemning the behavior and said they had apologized to Sanders and his family, facilitating a direct apology from Jax as well.

Jax Ulbrich posted a public apology on Instagram, calling his actions “inexcusable, embarrassing, and shameful,” and thanking Sanders for accepting his apology call. The NFL has confirmed it is investigating the incident. Sanders has not commented publicly about the prank.
