Crackdown On Expired License Plates Begins

In Denver and surrounding cities, there has been a noticeable trend on the roads. People driving with expired tags or no license plates at all.

Police officers in Douglas County were out in force this week to crack down on the multitude of people driving with expired registration tags.

This trend has been going on for some time, due to the pandemic. At the beginning of the pandemic, the Department of Motor Vehicles offices were closed. Thereafter, appointments were limited and hard to get. But that was years ago. We have been living in a post pandemic world for a bit now. The DMV is open again and they have made it even easier to renew those tags.

There are multiple ways to renew your car registrations. Drivers can go into the DMV, renew online, or use one of the kiosks located in King Soopers grocery stores. I for one, am excited to renew my tags with the last option. It’ll be quick and easy and no more waiting in line at the DMV for me. Plus you get your tags that day from what I’m told.

Now is the time to do so, because there is currently a multi-agency crackdown involving the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Parker Police Department and the Colorado State Patrol. And with that, I am sure many counties and cities will follow suit. It’s a problem everywhere. So with the prices of everything so high, avoid those citations by taking care of your cars tags now.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
