Tired of sitting in traffic and watching your wallet drain at the pump? Denver Streets Partnership has a pedal-powered solution for you! Their Bicycling Rewards Program pays you to ditch your car and ride your bike for everyday trips, helping both your wallet and the planet.
Why bikes? Denver’s got a bit of a car addiction, and it’s polluting our air. Transportation is the city’s biggest climate culprit, responsible for a whopping 30% of greenhouse gasses. The Bicycling Rewards Program wants to change that by incentivizing people to choose cleaner, healthier commutes.
Sound good? Here’s how to join the eco-revolution on two wheels:
- Earn cash for every mile: Model 1 pays you $1 per mile you bike for errands, work, or other non-leisure trips, up to $200 per month (limited spots!).
- Level up with support: Model 2 gives you personalized coaching, bike safety training, and up to $500 for a new bike, repairs, or gear, plus a $200 bonus if you bike regularly (limited spots!).
- Double dip for double impact: Combine the cash and support of both models in Model 3 (limited spots!).
Think you qualify? Here’s the scoop, according to the website:
- Currently get around in a car more than they ride a bicycle, or people who don’t currently ride a bicycle at all.
- Are of color
- Are lower-income
- Live in one of the following neighborhoods included in the Denver Department of Economic Development & Opportunity’s Neighborhood Equity & Stabilization areas, that are historically disinvested communities in danger of gentrification (outlined in blue on the map below): Globeville, Elyria Swansea, Clayton, Montbello, Sun Valley, Villa Park, Lincoln Park, Barnum West, Barnum, Valverde, Westwood, Athmar Park, Mar Lee, Ruby Hill, College View, East Colfax, Windsor, Kennedy
