A man in Commerce City narrowly escaped serious injury, thanks to a lucky twist of fate – his chain necklace. The Commerce City Police Department shared the incredible story on Facebook on Wednesday.
According to police, the victim was involved in an argument when a .22 caliber bullet was fired at his neck. Remarkably, the bullet struck his 10-millimeter silver chain, becoming lodged in the metal and leaving only a puncture wound. Police credit the chain with saving the man’s life.
The suspect in the shooting was apprehended at the scene and faces attempted homicide charges.
While the chain’s material remains a bit of a mystery, police say it wasn’t pure silver due to its sturdiness. Social media users have speculated the chain could be platinum, but regardless of the metal, it undoubtedly served as a life-saving shield.
