Jared Polis went live today with the creators of South Park Matt Stone and Trey Parker. They discussed all things Colorado and they also made a huge announcement. After months of speculation and a pending bankruptcy they have came to an agreement with the current owners. It looks like they are going to officially buy Casa Bonita. You can watch the live video below.

The creators of South Park are Trey Parker and Matt Stone. They went to the same school in Kansas, met at a production of Godspell and became friends when Trey sold him a television. They took time off from college to create their own animated show.

They were then offered a deal by Comedy Central to create a late-night show that would air later than the competition’s shows, which were airing at 10pm EST. South Park’s first episode premiered on August 13, 1997. In 1998, they were nominated for an Emmy and won two. In 2001, Parker was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

South Park’s popularity resulted in the release of several video games and a feature-length film that earned $52 million at the box office. South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut was nominated for an Academy Award in 1999.

The show is also broadcast on BBC and has won three BAFTA awards, as well as many Emmy Awards and Annie Awards. In 2005, the London Times named Matt Stone one of the 25 people who most influenced the decade with its satire.
