Commerce City police are searching for suspects after a truck intentionally smashed through the front of a local smoke shop, setting the stage for a later burglary that same night.
According to investigators, the incident happened on Jan. 13 at Darth Vapor Smoke Shop on East 62nd Avenue. Surveillance video shows a silver Chevrolet Silverado with no visible license plates backing directly into the store’s front entrance, shattering the glass doors and damaging security fencing. Police say the crash caused roughly $10,000 in damage before the driver fled the scene.

Because of the extent of the damage, the shop’s owner was unable to fully secure the business that night. Hours later, a second suspect took advantage of the compromised entrance, climbing through the broken security fence and stealing an unknown amount of merchandise from inside the store, police said.
Authorities believe the person who robbed the shop is not the same individual who drove the truck into the building. Video of both incidents has been reviewed as part of the investigation, which was first reported by Fox31.
Anyone who recognizes the truck, the suspects, or has information related to the case is asked to contact Commerce City Police Investigator Dominick at jdominick@c3gov.com or call 303-289-5056.
