The Mansion on Colfax is a historic building in Denver, Colorado, that has served as a home, a speakeasy, and is now a bar and Airbnb. It is located at the corner of Colfax Avenue and Marion Street, and was built in 1889 by G.V. Kram, a mining king who made his fortune in Colorado’s gold rush.

Kram designed the mansion to be a lavish residence for himself and his new bride. However, he died shortly before it was completed, and his wife never lived in it. The mansion was then sold to Earl B. Coe, a prominent Denver businessman.

During Prohibition, the mansion was used as a speakeasy. It is said to have had secret tunnels that connected to the Colorado State Capitol, allowing patrons to come and go without being seen. The mansion also had a gambling den and a brothel.

In the 1960s, the mansion was converted into a restaurant. It has since been home to several different restaurants and bars, most recently Kinga’s Lounge. In 2017, the mansion was purchased by Josh Holder, who renovated it and turned it into a bar and Airbnb.

Holder has preserved the mansion’s historic character, while also adding modern amenities. The bar has a unique atmosphere, with dark wood paneling, stained glass windows, and a fireplace. There is also a patio where guests can enjoy drinks and food in the summer.

The Mansion on Colfax is also a popular destination for ghost hunters. The mansion is said to be haunted by the ghosts of several former residents, including Kram and his wife. Holder has said that he has experienced paranormal activity in the mansion, and that he has even seen the ghost of Kram on several occasions.

In addition to the bar, Holder also hosts a pop-up bar called the Haunted Mansion on Colfax. The pop-up bar is open during the Halloween season and features spooky decorations and drinks.

The Mansion on Colfax is a unique and historic place that is sure to please visitors of all ages. Whether you are looking for a drink, a place to stay, or a chance to experience the paranormal, the Mansion on Colfax has something for everyone.

Josh Holder is the owner of the Mansion on Colfax bar and Airbnb. He is a lifelong Denver resident and has a passion for history and the paranormal. Holder has been interested in the Mansion on Colfax for many years, and he was thrilled to have the opportunity to purchase it in 2017.

Holder has renovated the mansion with care, preserving its historic character while also adding modern amenities. He is committed to providing guests with a unique and unforgettable experience.

Holder is also the host of the Haunted Mansion on Colfax pop-up bar. He enjoys creating a spooky and atmospheric experience for his guests.

Holder is a passionate advocate for the Mansion on Colfax and its history. He believes that the mansion is a valuable part of Denver’s culture and heritage, and he is committed to preserving it for future generations.
