Catch a Partial Eclipse in Colorado on April 8th!

The first total solar eclipse in the US in seven years is happening on April 8th, 2024! While the total eclipse won’t be visible from Colorado, skywatchers can still witness a spectacular partial eclipse.

When and What to Expect in Colorado:

* Date: Monday, April 8th, 2024

* Time: Approximately 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, with a peak around 12:30 pm

* Coverage: Depending on your location, you’ll see between 54% and 78% of the sun obscured.

* Best Viewing Locations: The southeast corner of the state (Springfield, Holly, Lamar) will experience the most coverage (around 75%). Denver will see roughly 65% coverage.

* Important Safety Information:

* Never look directly at the sun! Even a partial eclipse can damage your eyes.

* Use certified solar eclipse glasses to view the eclipse safely. Look for glasses with the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) emblem for guaranteed safety.

Avoid cheap, uncertified glasses, especially from foreign vendors.

Don’t miss this chance to witness a fascinating astronomical event!
