Colorado Dog Rescued After Being Spotted Stranded on Cliff
An ordinary day took a dramatic turn for a Colorado man when he noticed a strange shape clinging to the side of a steep cliff. At first he couldn’t tell what it was, but as he looked closer he realized it was a small dog trapped on a narrow ledge with a dangerous drop below.

Without hesitating, he called the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region. Officers Barker and Johnson responded and discovered the dog was far enough down the cliff that they could only see her clearly through binoculars. According to the rescue account shared by Happy Whisker, the dog was stranded roughly 50 yards above a creek with very little room to move.

The rescue team quickly brought in mountaineering equipment, including harnesses and rappelling ropes. Officer Barker descended the cliff to reach the dog while loose dirt crumbled beneath the animal’s paws. Once Barker made contact, the dog reportedly wagged her tail and licked her rescuer as she was secured with safety gear.
Officer Johnson then carefully raised both rescuer and dog back to stable ground. After the rescue, the pup was taken to a shelter for a medical evaluation, where staff discovered she had both a tag and a microchip.

The dog, identified as Jessie Lee, had been missing for two weeks. Her home was only a few blocks from the cliff, and her family quickly came to the shelter to bring her home.

What began as a mysterious shape on a cliff ended with a successful rescue, a reunited family, and a reminder of how quickly a routine day can become a life-saving moment.
